- Completed dimpling, scarf joints, dimpled wing structure and
trial fits
Managed to get a lot done today, Bernard came around to help and
he set to work on the scarf joints, and he made a good job too.
He also smoothed the edges of all the skins.
The
ribs and rear spar required dimpling so I set to work on that.
I am really fed up of dimpling and countersinking right now.
Once that was done it was trial fit time, but before I did that
thought it was best to do some measurements and make sure the wing
was straight, as it tuned out it had not moved other than a little
sag in the middle.

So with the skins on I was very pleased with the
fit between the leading edge and the outboard skins. No
gaps. The Inboard skins I was least happiest with, as when I
had countersunk the spar I had forgotten that the metal on the
inboard skin was thicker than that of the outboard skin, well this
meant that the countersinks in that area were not deep enough.
Oh no more countersinking and more dabbing of alocrom !
In the end I was happy with the fit.
